Year that proves Preseason Polls are crap

Well, what do you say? As expected the Buckeyes roll on another inferior team. If they lost, they’d have fallen out of the race, if it were close it would “prove” Ohio State is over-rated, but instead it was a blowout which means Kent State is awful and OSU’s schedule is weak. Obviously, it was a no-win game, but its over. And then the “Year that proves Pre-Season Polls are Crap” (Much better than the Year of the Upset) continues. LSU loses, Cal loses, and we all need to feel sorry for them. For two days this is all I’ve heard:

(Whiney John voice): “Oklahoma is clearly a better team than the ones at the top, these polls are unfair” - What? What? The same people who say that the beauty of college football is the yearlong playoff to see whose unbeaten, now complain when their beloved teams lost and punished for it. I heard one jackass(Lou Holtz?) say that Oklahoma is only down there because they had a two touchdown lead and fell asleep in the second half against Colorado. Hello? THEY LOST TO AN UNRANKED TEAM ON THEIR OWN FIELD DESPITE A TWO TOUCHDOWN LEAD!!! And yet, when OSU beats unranked teams by 45 points, its because the competition is inferior.

Here is the list of teams that can complain: LSU, Oregon.

LSU has a tough schedule, and they lost on the road in 3OT to a descent opponent.   Oregon also has a tough schedule, and lost to Cal on the final play.

Posers:

Cal: lost to Oregon State who lost thrice times including a beating by UCLA (yes, that ND-losing UCLA team)

Oklahoma: see above. (Did you notice the homer in the AP poll who gave them a #1 vote?)

USC: lost to a tree. The National Champ doesn’t lose that game.

Florida: lost and then lost again. Stop whining, you’re out!

Va Tech: lost a game 48-7.

Who do we blame for the OSU-hating right now? Sure, we could say its Troy Smith since he mailed it in against Florida which hurt our mistique. But that’s not fair, OSU lost, but it was last year. No, the blame goes squarely on michigan. Those unemployed jerks up north have ruined the reputation of the Big Ten this year. Imagine, if they had made the field goal against App St, they would at least be a respectable #2 in the Big Ten. Instead, the second best team is the laughing stock of College Football. This laughing is deflected right to us.

So let’s positively spin this thing. Ohio State runs the table. They go to the Natl Champ game. They play Boston College. They destroy them. The nation begrudgingly gives us the National Championship and immediately sharpens their pitchforks and lights their torches. Overwhelming pressure causes the conferences to crack and create an 8 game playoff.

Wow, that’ll be great!

Now, as always some losers… (I usually show at least one good upset Notre Dame picture, but none exist. They were happy to lose by only 13)

This is so unfair! We're the best team in the country no matter how many times we lose. Hey Ref, when I'm coaching at michigan next year, I won't have to deal with you!

He ran for it? He ran for it? He ran for it? Why? Why didn't he throw it away?

Well done Curt. Winning keeps everyone happy, so just don’t lose and you will be considered for one of the top spots.

“The same people who say that the beauty of college football is the yearlong playoff to see whose unbeaten, now complain when their beloved teams lost and punished for it.”

CORRECTION = “The same people who say that the beauty of college football is the yearlong playoff to see WHO’S unbeaten, now complain when their beloved teams lost and ARE punished for it.”

“mistique” = mystique

“descent” = decent (descent = move down, downward slope, etc. decent = average, ok, etc.)

moron.

It would have been a good analysis if you weren’t so dumb. Poophead.

CORRECTION - Poophead is not a word. Correct: Head of Poop.
